From the inside looking out: towards an ecosystem paradigm of third sector organizational performance measurement

Effective organizational performance measurement supports the long-term viability of third sector organizations. According to extant literature, it has been driven by accountability, legitimacy and improvement. While some aspects these are outward-facing, their focus seems be intra-organizational. Our study shows evidence a different approach performance: qualitative data from Scottish social care suggest paradigm shift on what drives enables in this sector. Moving away an instrumental, compliance- inward-focused approach, our findings point ecosystem marked adaptation, sustainability strategies inter-organizational collaborations.
